Second largest exergy destruction comes from HRSG and gasifier, and minimum exergy destruction occurs at steam condenser which were around 26%, 24%, and 0.03% of fuel exergy, respectively. Further thermodynamic investigations reveals that maximum exergy destroyed during combustion process which is around 40% of the fuel exergy. It was found that saw dust as a biomass material provides a better first-law efficiency and manure provides a better second-law efficiency. The effect of change in biomass material and some influenced thermodynamic parameters have been observed on the energetic and exergetic performance of the proposed cycle. In this context the current study has been carried out to evaluate the thermodynamic performance of various biomass fuelled combined gas - steam cycle for power generation. Biomass integrated gasification combined cycle (BIGCC) is the integration of biomass gasifier, gas turbine cycle, and steam turbine cycle, and its implementation for power generation has three fold benefits waste minimization, clean power, and a reduction of load on fossil fuel power grid. Gasification of biomass which requires minimum fuel processing is a most promising way of energy conversion technology because it provides power at higher efficiency and lower emissions contrary to its direct combustion which has the problem of power generation at lower efficiency and higher emissions. Biomass which ranks fourth as a source of energy and is abundantly available due to agricultural waste and municipal waste provides a domain for green power. To meet out the challenges of increase in energy demand due to sheer growth in population of the world, commercialization of renewable sources of energy for power generation has become a necessity.
